In this 4-week class, students will build a foundational understanding of oil painting before moving into more in-depth subjects such as color theory, tint/shade mixing, using value to build three-dimensional forms, and composition of an artwork. Students will learn the care and upkeep of tools and materials as well as safe handling of solvents and other oil painting media. Some experience with acrylic or oil painting preferred, but not required.

All students will receive a set of 10 Windsor-Newton oil paints to keep.

NOTE: Oil paint uses solvents and thinners for cleanup; students will use odorless turpenoid instead of regular turpentine, but some materials can still be hazardous if used incorrectly. Only students ages 18 and up may participate in this workshop.
