Students in this workshop will discover ways to work with simple tools to create functional and beautiful baskets! We will look at examples of modern and historic uses of this technique and begin a basket of your own using colorful yarn and coiling core. We will cover design planning, ways to begin, and several different stitches to use.

NOTE: Yarn basketry is a long process from start to finish, so students will not be able to take home a “finished” basket during this workshop. However, basketry is repetitive and simple once started, so students will be able to take materials home to complete the basket on their own time after the workshop is complete. If you get stuck or need a quiet space to finish your basket, we encourage students to attend our monthly Knitting Circle (any fiber art) on the first Saturday of every month from 11am to 2pm to receive additional help from our instructor.
