Students will learn the basics of oil painting in this afternoon workshop! After a brief overview of what oil paint is and how to use it, the class will jump right into an alla prima painting exercise together. The class will cover thinning and applying the medium correctly, using shapes and visual tips and tricks to paint what you see, working from dark to light to build forms, and painting wet-on-wet.

NOTE: Oil paint uses solvents and thinners for cleanup; students will use odorless turpenoid instead of regular turpentine, but some materials can still be hazardous if used incorrectly. Only students ages 18 and up may participate in this workshop.
