In this afternoon workshop, 5th-8th grade children will use freeform paper-piecing on cardstock to create a quilting pattern. Students will choose colors that play well together, learn about seam allowance, and use glue and simple sewing to make a quilted picture. Afterwards, students will do a quick fuse technique to add curvy shapes to the design. Participants are encouraged to bring any special cloth they might have. Sewing will be done mainly by hand, but if you have an easily portable sewing machine you are welcome to bring it.

Note: sewing machines are optional and may only be used by children who are accompanied by their parents. Parents attend free.

Maximum number of students: 10
